How to Properly Maintain Your Window Cleaning Robot and Extend Its Lifespan

Bottom line first: A cleaning robot is not a “set and forget” device. Most robots fail within a year simply because of poor maintenance – tangled brushes, clogged filters, worn side brushes that keep spinning. All these can be fixed by yourself. 1. After Every Use: 30‑Second Checklist

These three tasks take less than a minute after each cleaning session and prevent 80% of potential failures.

1. Empty the dustbin + tap the filter
Empty the dustbin as soon as it’s full – don’t wait until it overflows. Take out the filter and tap it to remove dust. Hair easily wraps around the side‑brush bearings – use scissors or a toothpick to remove it. When the bristles are worn down to stubs or just plastic nubs, replace them. Continuing to use worn brushes can scratch floors, increase noise, and reduce cleaning efficiency.

2. Wash and inspect the mopping pad
If you have a self‑cleaning base, clean the washboard as well; for hand‑washed pads, rinse thoroughly and air‑dry. Never put a damp pad back – it will develop mildew, odours, and secondary contamination. If the pad is yellowed, smelly, or deformed, replace it immediately. Don’t skimp on a few dollars – a dirty pad smears dirt rather than cleaning.

3. Clean the base station water tank and water lines
Empty the clean water tank and scrub the inside (algae can grow as green slime) with white vinegar or diluted disinfectant. Also clean the waste water tank regularly to prevent odours. Check the inlet hose connections for moisture – any leakage indicates a worn seal.
